Lee Jung Woo, known as the mother-in-law of Jun Ji Hyun, has explained suspicions that she was taking a jab at BTS and revealed her fan sentiment.
On the 21st, Lee Jung Woo posted a screenshot of BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG on her social media, writing, “A leader who speaks English and members who still can’t speak English even after 10 years. Still, I love them all.”

Although the comment came from affection toward BTS, some viewers reacted negatively to her blunt expression. In response, she posted a long message on the 22nd sharing her honest thoughts on the comeback live.
She recalled BTS’s return with their new album arirang after three years and nine months, reflecting on past concerts and praising the group’s growth, music quality, and meaningful lyrics. She also mentioned members such as RM and Jin, expressing admiration for their efforts and contributions.
Lee also commented on the high-quality streaming, noting that the performance ran smoothly without buffering, and shared her disappointment at not attending in person due to illness while expressing anticipation for upcoming concerts.
Regarding the controversy, she said, “Can’t a celebrity’s family even fangirl freely in this country?” and emphasized that as a long-time fan, she would never criticize the group—especially after their long-awaited comeback.
She further added that she is not fluent in English herself and had no intention of judging others’ language skills, reaffirming her sincere support for BTS.
