Kangnam recently opened up about the unexpected side effect of his nose surgery.
On December 2, Kangnam shared his post-surgery experience on his YouTube channel. He began by sharing that he saw various comments praising his visuals lately. He explained, “After the surgery, I saw a lot of comments saying I looked more handsome, so I reached out to a director I know and suggested we shoot a pictorial.”
He continued, "So in the comments, there were a lot of people saying, 'You look so handsome, you look like Denji.' So I thought 'Oh! yeah? Then let's take a pictorial!' So I reached out to a friend I know." He added, "Don't magazine companies usually reach out to celebrities for photoshoots? But us, we contact them," making the production team laugh.

However, Kangnam also explained an unexpected side effect of his plastic surgery. He confessed that more people have been failing to recognize him since the procedure. He shared, "So I've been filming overseas for the past month, right? One of the overseas filming took place in the countryside. To be honest, I've been hosting the Korea-Japan Top Ten Show, so older viewers used to recognize me easily. I'm popular with the older generation. Even at markets, people would make a buzz when they see me. But then, they don’t recognize me anymore. After I got a nose surgery, they don't recognize me. It’s such a shame. I'm so sad!"
The production team chimed in, "Does that mean, you need to build from scratch," to which Kangnam responded, "I guess I have to rebuild my name recognition from scratch, so I’ll have to work even harder."
Appearing unshaven in the video, Gangnam also spoke about his insecurities regarding his facial hair.
“This awkward patchy beard is my complex—it grows like a goat’s. I booked a laser treatment to fix it, but the moment I heard it would hurt, I walked right out. I really hate pain,” he said.
