A man in his 30s who broke into the home of former After School member and actress Nana while carrying a weapon is set to be transferred to the prosecution in custody on November 24.
The break-in occurred on November 15 at Nana’s residence in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province. According to police, the intruder used a ladder he brought to climb up to the veranda, entered through an unlocked door, and went inside while armed. He then threatened Nana and her mother and demanded money. Nana and her mother fought back and managed to overpower him before calling the police, who arrested him at the scene.
Both Nana and her mother suffered serious injuries during the struggle, and her mother reportedly lost consciousness at one point. They are currently resting and receiving treatment.
Police stated that the suspect is unemployed and does not appear to be a stalker or a sasaeng targeting celebrities. During questioning, he reportedly claimed he “didn’t know a celebrity lived there” and committed the crime because he was “short on living expenses.”
On November 17, a local court issued an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery resulting in injury. The next day, the suspect requested a detention review, arguing that officers failed to read him his Miranda rights during the arrest. The court dismissed the request. Because of the review process, the detention period was extended, and the suspect will now be sent to the prosecution on November 24.
Nana’s agency, Sublime, stated, “The safety and recovery of Nana and her family are our top priorities. We ask everyone to refrain from speculation, spreading false information, or sharing private details, as this can cause secondary harm.” The agency added that it will provide full support to Nana and her family during their recovery.
