G-Dragon reflected on the difficult period following his false drug allegations.
On the November 5 episode of MBC’s ‘Sohn’s Questions’, the singer appeared as a guest and talked about his recent music and the controversy that once surrounded him.
When host Sohn Suk Hee commented that G-Dragon’s new “POWER” music video felt like “an open criticism,” the singer replied, “There was a message I wanted to deliver. About a year before that album, I was caught up in a certain incident.”
He was referring to the false drug charges filed against him in November 2023. At the time, police launched an investigation based on a club manager’s testimony, but all drug tests—including reagent and detailed analyses—returned negative, and the case was dismissed.

“Even though I was the one involved, I had no place to express my feelings since I was on hiatus,” he said. “I didn’t want to cry out that I was innocent, but it was frustrating and disheartening. I didn’t want to hold a press conference either—it just felt meaningless. I even wondered if I should retire, but there wasn’t a reason to. I kept asking myself if it was really over or if I barely made it through.”
He added, “All I could do was music. As I started writing again, I found myself channeling those experiences, and it felt like I had ‘found my purpose’—that’s what ‘POWER’ came to mean for me.”
