BOYNEXTDOOR is teaming up with the popular animation 'Tom and Jerry' for a special collaboration single.
On November 10 KST, the group will release the digital single “SAY CHEESE!” in Japan to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Tom and Jerry. The song captures the precious friendship shared between two inseparable best friends, using the playful chase between Tom and Jerry as a metaphor. Its upbeat rock ’n’ roll sound adds to the fun and energetic vibe.
Originally airing in 1940, Tom and Jerry is a beloved Warner Bros. animation depicting the adorable rivalry between the cat Tom and the mouse Jerry. The charming chemistry between the two characters has continued to capture audiences’ hearts for generations.
BOYNEXTDOOR had previously hinted at the collaboration when they were invited to the Tom and Jerry 85th Anniversary event held at Warner Bros. Japan headquarters in February. The project came to fruition thanks to the group’s rising popularity in Japan.
This year, BOYNEXTDOOR has been actively promoting in Japan, releasing the Japanese version of their digital single “One and Only (오늘만 I LOVE YOU)” and their second single album 'BOYLIFE.' The latter achieved Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) in September, selling approximately 346,000 copies in its first week according to Oricon, and topping both the Weekly Single Ranking and Weekly Combined Single Ranking (for the period of August 18–24).
Their first solo tour in Japan, “BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR ‘KNOCK ON Vol.1’ IN JAPAN,” included 13 shows across six cities (including encore performances) and sold out every date, further proving their growing fanbase.
BOYNEXTDOOR will continue their momentum with large-scale performances, including an appearance at COUNTDOWN JAPAN 25/26, Japan’s largest year-end music festival, held from December 27–31 at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo. The six members are scheduled to perform on the first day, showcasing their trademark dynamic stage presence.
COUNTDOWN JAPAN, which began in 2003, is one of Japan’s biggest annual festivals, featuring top-performing artists from across the year.
