
Actor Choi Sung Won, best known for playing Hyeri’s younger brother in the hit drama 'Reply 1988,' has shared a glimpse of his recovery journey following his battle with leukemia.
On August 30, Choi posted several photos on his personal account with the caption, “July–August.” In the pictures, the actor appeared noticeably thinner compared to the past but maintained a warm smile. He also revealed an active lifestyle, attending performances and visiting Cheonggyecheon in Seoul.
Choi Sung Won first rose to fame in 2015 through his role as Sung No Eul, Deok Sun’s younger brother, in 'Reply 1988.' Since then, he has showcased his versatility across television, film, and theater, with appearances in 'Prison Playbook,' 'Gangnam Beauty,' 'Psychopath Diary,' 'Big Issue,' 'No Path Back,' as well as films such as 'Asura: The City of Madness' and stage productions including 'The Goddess' and 'Trace U.'
In 2016, Choi was diagnosed with acute leukemia and temporarily halted his acting career. After a period of recovery, he faced another health setback in 2020. Now marking his second year in remission, the actor continues to focus on rebuilding his health.
Last year, Choi made his on-screen return in the TVING original series 'Pyramid Game,' where he took on the role of homeroom teacher Im Joo Hyung, signaling his determination to remain active in the industry despite past challenges.
