Meanwhile, less than 2 years into their career, controversy struck. NewJeans became embroiled in a legal battle with their company, ADOR, with the members seeking to end their exclusive contract while citing mistreatment, and ADOR seeking to establish that NewJeans' contract is in fact still in place and has not been violated through claimed mistreatment of the group.
With the courts recently granting ADOR an injunction to prevent NewJeans from carrying out independent activities, it has now been over a year since NewJeans has officially released new music.
