On July 30, rapper and TV personality Lee Young Ji revealed that she lost around 4,000 followers on social media after posting a graphic photo of her nail injury.
She updated her fans through Instagram with a selfie using a humorous filter that gave her a bald head and a thick beard. Along with the photo, she wrote, "Hey guys, how are you doing? I’m good. I’ve been working hard." In the post, she also shared a funny exchange with a fan who messaged her saying, "Unfollow." Lee Young Ji responded by sharing a screenshot of the message and replied, "Don’t go. I already lost 4,000 followers after I posted that nail photo."

The image she referred to was originally uploaded on July 22. It showed a severe injury to her ring and pinky fingernails, which were torn from the nail bed despite having nail art. She explained, "Many people asked if I hurt my hand. My ring and pinky nails are lifted. Warning, graphic content... I covered the blood."
The injury occurred during rehearsals for her upcoming performance at KCON, which is scheduled to take place on August 1. She apologized to fans who were shocked by the photo and jokingly said, "If you think of it not as a nail but as castanets, it’s not that gross. It opens and closes just the same."
After receiving a flood of concerned messages from fans, she added, "I’m the one who got hurt, but you’re all more upset than I am. It actually makes me feel better." She also affectionately told her followers, "Don’t go pulling at your nails carelessly."
Although she joked around, Lee Young Ji admitted her real fear. "Honestly, I acted like I was fine, but I haven’t removed the nail yet," she confessed. "I’ll go to the hospital first thing in the morning to have it removed. I’m 24 years old. I shouldn’t be scared, but I really am."
She ended the post with a dark but humorous note, saying, "Wish me luck. I won’t die tomorrow, right? If I do, I’ll donate all my wealth to society."
Lee Young Ji first gained public attention in 2019 through the Mnet survival show 'High School Rapper Season 3.' She later proved her talent by winning 'Show Me the Money 11.' Recently, she has also been actively appearing on tvN’s variety show 'Earth Arcade,' where she is known for her sharp wit and strong sense of humor.
