On July 8, singer Shinji’s agency, JG Star, issued an official statement regarding the controversy surrounding her fiancé, Moon Won. The agency stated that Moon is reflecting sincerely on his past behavior, while firmly denying allegations of school bullying and infidelity. Legal action is also being considered against those spreading false information.
“Moon Won does not take the controversy over his attitude lightly and is deeply remorseful for his inappropriate words and actions,” the agency said in its press release.
Shinji, a member of the long-running co-ed group Koyote, announced her engagement to Moon in June. However, shortly afterward, a series of claims emerged on YouTube and social media platforms. These included allegations about Moon’s past divorce, having a child, school bullying, misconduct during military service, and unlicensed work in real estate.
The agency acknowledged Moon’s past shortcomings. “He recognizes that he behaved disrespectfully toward Shinji and her fellow Koyote members and regrets hurting someone he loves,” they explained. “With the sudden attention following the announcement of their marriage, some immature behaviors came to light.”
However, JG Star emphasized that Shinji and Moon’s relationship has been built on mutual respect. “We have observed their relationship for a long time, and like any couple, they care for and support each other. Moon has pledged to grow and take accountability for his actions.”
The agency also addressed the specific rumors in detail and provided supporting evidence:
◆ Real Estate License Allegations
In response to claims that Moon worked in real estate without proper certification, the agency clarified, “He was officially registered as a real estate assistant and completed the necessary training. There is no evidence of illegal brokerage activity.”
◆ School and Military Bullying Allegations
On the allegations of school violence and bullying during his military service, the agency stated, “We directly contacted Moon’s former classmates and military juniors. All of them confirmed the claims are false.”
◆ Divorce and Cheating Allegations
Regarding Moon’s past marriage, JG Star said, “He amicably divorced his ex-wife, and the cheating allegations are completely untrue. The ex-wife also wishes the couple well in their future.”
The agency concluded with a warning: “Unverified rumors and false information are being spread indiscriminately, even violating the privacy of Moon’s ex-wife. We are currently reviewing legal measures against defamation and the distribution of false claims.”
Meanwhile, Shinji is currently participating in the filming of Koyote’s new music video. The group is preparing for their comeback this August.
