Amid growing speculation over an anonymous online post accusing a celebrity of double-dating ahead of marriage, actor Lee Jang Woo has firmly denied any involvement.
On July 30 KST, a close associate of Lee stated, “We weren’t even aware of such rumors until now. The situation being described is completely absurd and absolutely not true.”
The controversy began when an anonymous user posted on an online community claiming that their ex-boyfriend, a celebrity, had sent them 8 million KRW (~$6,200 USD) as a form of “preemptive consolation” ahead of a broadcast appearance in which he would reportedly reveal his new relationship and wedding plans.
The accuser, referred to as “A”, alleged that the timeline of the celebrity’s new relationship may overlap with their previous one, implying a “rebound” or cheating scenario. A further claim was made that the celebrity’s agency had asked them not to speak publicly about the relationship’s timeline.
“I have the right to refuse hush money,” A stated, “It feels like he’s trying to silence me after betraying me.”
Although the post didn’t mention a specific name or show title, speculation quickly spread online, with many attempting to identify the celebrity in question based on clues such as being a male actor in his 30s who is “not a hot trending star, but someone recognizable.” This led to multiple baseless assumptions and even real-name accusations online, sparking concerns about misidentification and potential secondary harm.
Lee Jang Woo, who recently announced his upcoming marriage, was among those whose names were mentioned by netizens, prompting his team to issue a strong denial and emphasize that the rumors are completely unfounded.
