Lee Kyung Kyu, born in 1960, has denied allegations that he was caught driving under the influence of drugs, clarifying that the reaction was caused by prescribed medication for panic disorder. He also stated that the police investigation has already concluded and all procedures have been completed.
Speaking to the media on the 9th, Lee explained, “It’s true that I went to the hospital on the 8th due to flu-like symptoms, but the report about me visiting an indoor golf range is false.”
He continued, “I underwent a urine test, and a single line appeared on the test. Since the medication I take contains sensitive substances, I always carry the prescription label with me. I showed it to the authorities at the time and returned home. Isn’t it too much to say I ‘used drugs’ just because I took medicine while I was sick?”
Lee also admitted to mistakenly driving someone else’s car.
“I took the wrong car by accident. The vehicles were the same model and color, and the valet staff handed me the wrong key,” he said. “I noticed my bag wasn’t inside and immediately returned the vehicle to the parking lot. In the meantime, the actual owner had reported the car stolen, but the issue was resolved once I returned it.”
The incident took place around 2 p.m. on June 8 at a parking lot in Gangnam, Seoul, where Lee reportedly drove off in a vehicle identical to his own. He was later questioned by the police.
While he tested negative for alcohol, a field drug test showed a positive result. Lee explained that the result was due to his prescribed medication for panic disorder.
