Japanese music star MIYAVI is set to begin his Korean entertainment activities.
According to a SPOTV News report on June 18, MIYAVI has been cast in the upcoming drama 'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' (working title, written by Oh Han Ki, directed by Im Pil Sung).
'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' is a thriller drama that tells the story of a debt-ridden landlord who, to protect his family and property, both more precious to him than his own life, becomes involved in a crime. It explores the dark side of achieving the so-called “dream” of owning property, where financial struggles lead the protagonist into a kidnapping plot.
Miyavi will play Morgan Lee, the executive director of “Real Capital.” This will be MIYAVI’s first appearance in a Korean drama. He is expected to deliver a powerful performance alongside actors Ha Jung Woo and Shim Eun Kyung, drawing attention as a potential scene-stealer.

MIYAVI is half-Japanese, half-Korean, with a Japanese mother and a Korean father from Jeju Island. Recently, his wife, singer Melody, announced that their family had relocated to Seoul. With MIYAVI taking on a role in 'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea,' fans are speculating that this may mark the beginning of his full-fledged activities in Korea.
MIYAVI debuted in 1999 as a member of the rock band Dué le Quartz and launched a solo career in 2002, becoming a representative figure in J-Rock. In 2022, he formed the supergroup The Last Rockstars with X Japan’s Yoshiki, Luna Sea’s Sugizo, and L’Arc-en-Ciel’s Hyde, garnering widespread attention.
He has also acted in films such as 'Unbroken,' 'Kong: Skull Island,' and 'Hell Dogs.'
It is widely known that his two daughters are fans of K-pop, and MIYAVI also maintains close relationships with Korean celebrities, including Jaejoong. He featured on “Dopamine,” a track from Jaejoong’s fourth full-length album 'Flower Garden,' released last year.
'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' is scheduled to air on tvN.
