aespa continues to solidify its global hitmaker reputation, achieving major success in Japan.
According to the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards winners list, announced by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on March 12, aespa took home two awards: ‘New Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best 3 New Artists.’
Since officially debuting in Japan with their single ‘Hot Mess’ on July 3, 2023, aespa has demonstrated strong popularity through their two arena tours and historic Tokyo Dome performances. They became the first overseas female artist to sell out the venue for two consecutive years, reaffirming their strong local fanbase.
In addition to their Japan Gold Disc Awards win, aespa dominated the charts in 2024 with a triple-hit streak, including their first full-length album’s double title tracks, ‘Supernova’ and ‘Armageddon,’ as well as their fifth mini-album, ‘Whiplash.’ Their success extended beyond Asia, as aespa was honored with ‘Group of the Year’ at ‘Billboard’s Women in Music 2025.’ With their latest Japan Gold Disc Awards victory, they continue their global award streak.
Looking ahead, aespa will perform at ‘Summer Sonic 2025’ in Tokyo this August, one of Japan’s largest city music festivals, drawing over 200,000 attendees annually. Known for their powerful performances and signature "metallic" sound, they are expected to be one of the festival’s highlights.
On March 12 (local time), aespa wrapped up the European leg of their tour with a final show in Madrid. They will then return to Korea for their two-day encore concert, ‘2025 aespa LIVE TOUR – SYNK : PARALLEL LINE – ENCORE,’ at KSPO Dome in Seoul on March 15-16.
