ILLIT’s debut music video ‘Magnetic’ has officially surpassed 200 million views on YouTube.
According to Belift Lab, the MV for ‘Magnetic’, the title track of ILLIT’s first mini-album ‘Super Real Me’, exceeded 200 million views at 8:50 PM KST on February 17th KST.
Blending pluck R&B and house influences, ‘Magnetic’ compares the rush of falling for someone to an irresistible force, using playful lyrics about ‘super attraction’ and a magnet as metaphors. The music video showcases quirky and endearing scenes of the members getting completely absorbed in their favorite things, along with viral short-form dance moves that have captivated audiences worldwide.
Since its release on March 25, 2023, ‘Magnetic’ has created a global sensation. The track not only dominated domestic music charts but also set a historic record by becoming the first-ever and fastest K-pop debut song to enter:
• Billboard Hot 100 (April 20, 2023)
• UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 (April 5, 2023)
Additionally, on Spotify, the song has now amassed over 540 million streams.
Building on their success, ILLIT won the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award at the ‘32nd Hanteo Music Awards 2024’ on February 16th, marking their fifth rookie award following recognitions at the ‘2024 MAMA Awards,’ ‘MMA 2024,’ ‘39th Golden Disc Awards,’ and ‘66th Japan Record Awards.’
Meanwhile, ILLIT’s song ‘Almond Chocolate,’ the theme song for the Japanese film ‘I Don’t Like You Just for Your Face,’ was released on February 14th and quickly climbed to the top of AWA Music’s real-time chart, while also ranking high on the Oricon Daily Digital Single Chart.
