Producer Code Kunst has shared his struggles in preparing a new album.
In 2023, he was known to have been in a five-year relationship with a non-celebrity. Then, on the 28th, Jeon Hyunmoo, who received the grand prize at the '2024 MBC Entertainment Awards,' sparked marriage rumors by joking in his acceptance speech, "I think I'll get married to Narae and Kokun."
Appearing on the YouTube channel 'Yong Tarot,' which will be released on the 29th, Code Kunst reflected on his creative process, saying, "When I was young, I used to nag my older brothers in music, asking, 'Why does it take so long to release an album?' But now I understand."
He continued, "I feel like I've said everything I wanted to say over the past 10 years. I've developed a pattern in my work, so I no longer face major challenges, but making songs now requires me to dig into my past, which takes time."
Comedian Lee Yong Jin, who hosted the show, agreed, saying, "I think musicians should always have various life experiences," and then humorously advised Code Kunst on his album through a tarot reading, mentioning scenarios like "ups and downs, investment mistakes, and getting scammed."
Reading the tarot cards Code Kunst selected, Lee Yongjin interpreted, "If you don't get greedy, you'll do well. Don't try to get 100 points," and added, "If you keep it simple to the point where people wonder, 'Is this really okay?' they'll like it." Code Kunst nodded in agreement and laughed, saying, "I need to avoid album perfectionism."
Code Kunst released his sixth album, 'Remember Archive,' in 2023, three years after his fifth album, 'PEOPLE,' in 2020. If a new album is released this year, it will mark his seventh full-length album and his first in two years.
Lee Yongjin also expressed interest in participating in the album, suggesting, "How about a track featuring a skit with insightful hip-hop content?" Code Kunst responded positively, saying, "That sounds like a good idea. I'll prepare something."
On this episode, Code Kunst also consulted tarot cards about his recent 10kg weight gain, his barista license, the reason behind founding his new company, and his compatibility with fellow musicians like Woo Won Jae, Gray, and Lee Hi.
'Yong Tarot' will be released at 6 PM KST on the 29th.
