SM Entertainment Myth or Legend: The title tracks of the 4th Albums are the best?

SM Entertainment is one of the biggest entertainment agencies in South Korea, home to your favorite k-pop groups, such as Girls' Generation, Super Junior, Red Velvet, SHINee, EXO, NCT, and f(x). They are truly a music factory and are able to produce legendary items, whether it be artists or music.

There is a pattern that we've noticed amongst SM artists. It may be by chance, or it may be intentional, but it's a myth that any star who releases their fourth album has a huge hit on that album. It's weird to see, but the fourth album always ends up being a hit for these groups. Of course, all of SM's albums are usually huge gems, but once you see this list, you'll be surprised to see how explosive these albums and songs were!

So let's take a look and see how great these albums and tracks were!

TVXQ - 4th Album "MIROTIC" (Title Track - MIROTIC)

This album and song can be considered TVXQ's best album and title song to date, and many fans remember TVXQ for this iconic song. It was also the last song the group performed as a five-member group.

Super Junior - 4th Album "BONAMANA" (Title Track - Bonamana)

After an iconic third album promotion with "Sorry, Sorry," the public thought it couldn't get better than this, and BAM. They released their fourth full-length album a year later and came back with another addicting song, "Bonamana," and the entire country went completely nuts!

SHINee - 4th Album "Odd" (Title Track - View)

This iconic song is the definition of high-teen SHINee, where they were able to experiment with their music. Some people can't believe this song was released in 2015; looking at their outfits because this aligns with the currently trending newtro fashion, which wasn't even a thing back then!

Girls' Generation 4th Album "I GOT A BOY" (Title Track - I GOT A BOY)

The entire country was shocked on January 1st, 2013, when GG was the first comeback of the year, and the album and song they released were something the entire country had never seen before. A mix-up of multiple genres, "I GOT A BOY" is genuinely one of its kind.

EXO 4th Album "THE WAR" (Title Track - Ko Ko Bop)

When EXO-L's thought EXO's music couldn't get any better than this, EXO completely pulled off the impossible when they returned to the public with "Ko Ko Bop."

f(x) 4th Album "4 Walls" (Title Track - 4 Walls)

This was, unfortunately, f(x)'s last album as of this writing, but it was still a great one, as these four ladies completely killed this concept in every way possible. This was such a musically talented album with such a wonderful album!

NCT127 4th Album "2 Baddies" (Title Track - 2 Baddies)

NCT127 was the latest SM group to release their fourth full-length album, and it was no disappointment at all. Reaching record-high album sales, this album was an absolute hit, and fans were so happy to see them promote this iconic album!

The only other group who hasn't released their fourth full-length album from SM Entertainment is Red Velvet, who tends to release mini-albums more frequently, but we already know all their songs are bops -- especially their most recent release!

These songs and albums are all truly epic, and it just may be true that the fourth-album mystery is not a myth and they are all iconic. Whatever it may be, we're so glad SM Entertainment has their fair share of fantastic talent to please our ears and eyes. What are your thoughts on this list? Do you agree that these songs are all genuinely iconic? Is there an ultimate favorite that you have? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!

  1. EXO

Not to me. Lol. DBSK is a good pick but it's "Sorry Sorry" for SuJu and IGAB is not on the level of "Gee" or even "Genie" (my favorite is "Run Devil Run"). "View" is amazing and probably the best Shinee title track imo but it's not as iconic as "Replay" or "Ring Ding Dong". As for EXO, it's obviously "Growl".

What do you mean Mirotic "was the last song the group performed as a five-member group"? Mirotic came out in 2008 and OT5 were still working and releasing music in 2009. For sure a Japanese album came out in 2009, not sure about in Korea.
