PLAVE has made history once again, as their Japanese debut single becomes the first Japanese-language track to enter Melon’s ‘Hall of Fame.’
On June 16, PLAVE released their first Japanese digital single album, "Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)." The group recorded a staggering 2.7 million streams within just 24 hours of release, signaling a powerful debut in the Japanese market.
Notably, "Kakurenbo" became the first-ever Japanese-language release to be inducted into Melon’s 'Hall of Fame,' a title awarded to albums that surpass 1 million streams within 24 hours on the major South Korean music platform. This achievement proves PLAVE’s strong popularity and buzz both in South Korea and abroad.

PLAVE's latest Japanese single album includes three tracks. The title song "Kakurenbo" marks PLAVE’s first original Japanese track and reinterprets the group’s signature band sound with a Japanese flair. Members Yejun, Noah, and Eunho participated in composing the song, while Bambi and Hamin led the choreography direction, once again showcasing PLAVE’s status as a self-producing idol group.
The remaining two tracks are Japanese versions of previously released songs, "RIZZ" and "Chroma Drift." Both tracks were re-adapted with lyrics that align naturally with Japanese expressions, tone, and emotion, offering a fresh take while preserving the original feel.
The music video for "Kakurenbo," released on the evening of June 16, also captured attention with its touching portrayal of fleeting youth and separation. The cinematic visuals interweave scenes of fantasy and reality as it tells the story of the five members who, after sharing their youth together, go their separate ways due to an unexpected event. Their search for “us in those radiant memories,” like a game of hide-and-seek, pairs perfectly with the nostalgic band sound, evoking deep emotions.
Set against the backdrop of Japanese summer scenes, featuring trains, tunnels, coin laundromats, and more, the detailed settings, stylish high-teen visuals, and poignant direction intensified the feeling of youthful innocence. The music video draws a different shade of summer from their previous release "The 6th Summer" (August 2023), reinforcing PLAVE’s unique brand of youthful sentiment.
Meanwhile, PLAVE will kick off their first Asia tour, 'DASH: QUANTUM LEAP,' just two years after their debut. The tour will begin with a three-day concert at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Seoul, from August 15 to 17.
