Actor Shin Dong Wook opened up about suffering with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS) on the May 24 episode of 'Radio Star'.

Back in 2010, Shin Dong Wook halted all promotions after being diagnosed with the rare, incurable illness. After 6 years, Shin Dong Wook has finally returned to broadcasts, recently making his first public appearance with a bright smile.

During the talk show, he revealed, "My teeth broke while I was trying to resist the pain... Now, it's just my hands that hurt, and the other places on my body have been treated. I don't feel much pain now. The last pain I felt was the cold. In the past, it used to feel like I was getting stabbed with a knife when the cold wind blew. Now, even the air conditioner is ok."

dont know who he is but glad he seems better now

He was a very promising young actor about 10 years ago, but then he was hit with this horrible condition while serving his military service in 2010. He is currently appearing in the MBC drama 'Lookout', his first acting role since the onset of his illness.

I have a friend with CRPS. It's truly a living hell. She also broke her teeth. She says the worst isn't so much the physical pain but the constant fear of when it will happen.

Yes the fear of not knowing when the pain will strike is really scary and depressing. But I think he can't completely recover from this illness just that the pain hopefully would be less and less severe over time and he copes better and lead a much more normal life..

Geez. Good thing he's cured now.

The words "incurable illness" in the title should be enough to tell you, he isn't cured, he said, it's just his hands that hurt now. Rather than saying "good thing he's cured" (since he isn't), more appropriate to say, "good thing it's gotten better"

"Incurable illness". The medicine he takes helps him to manage his condition, that's all.

unfortunately it can't be cured. I have the same disease, with treatment it can go into remission for months to years but it comes back. Medicine and treatments can just manage the pain and help desensatize ur limbs and affected areas
