ADOR's 43 billion KRW (approximately 32 million USD) damage lawsuit against NewJeans member Danielle, her family, and former CEO Min Hee Jin will officially begin this month. According to legal sources on March 8, the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first preparatory hearing for the case on March 26.
The HYBE-affiliated label filed the lawsuit last December. ADOR claims that Danielle's side and Min Hee Jin are legally responsible for causing the ongoing disputes, Danielle's departure, and delaying the group's return to activities. This follows a previous court ruling in December that confirmed NewJeans' exclusive contracts with ADOR are still legally valid, despite the members' claims that the contracts were terminated in November.
Interestingly, this new case will be handled by the same court division that recently ruled in favor of Min Hee Jin in a separate lawsuit. Last month, the court ordered HYBE to pay Min 25.6 billion KRW for her stock put-options, stating that while she did explore ways to make ADOR independent, it was not a severe breach of her shareholder contract. Recently, during a press conference on February 25, Min offered to give up that 25.6 billion KRW payout if HYBE agrees to drop all civil and criminal lawsuits and allows all five NewJeans members to continue working together freely.
