Elderly couple in their 90s donate their life savings to students in need

On April 12, Jeju National University revealed that Moon Dae Ohn (92) and Cho Jang Soon (90) donated 500 million KRW ($440,720 USD) to the institute.

According to media outlet Insight, the elderly couple decided to donate their life savings in the thought of the past hardships they faced as students studying in poor financial situations. When making the donation, they also reportedly emphasized their wish to help the students continuing their studies in poor financial conditions.

Heo Hyang Jin, the president of Jeju National University, expressed gratitude and commented, "My heart is touched even more as they donated for a scholarship with the money they saved working hard their entire lives. With their precious intentions in mind, we will effective use the donation to help the growth of students studying in poor financial situations."
