ILLIT is set to make a comeback with a new release infused with bold and honest charm, as they aim to solidify their rising global status.
According to BELIFT LAB, a label under HYBE MUSIC GROUP, pre-orders for ILLIT’s fourth mini album 'MAMIHLAPINATAPAI', set for release on April 30th, began at 11 AM on March 31st KST.
The album title 'MAMIHLAPINATAPAI' comes from the language of the Yaghan people of South America and refers to a moment where two people both desire something but hesitate, waiting for the other to make the first move. The album reflects the complex emotions that arise as relationships deepen.
The title track “It’s Me” captures ILLIT’s confident energy. It portrays the moment after a first date when feelings grow stronger, boldly expressing, “I’m your favorite!” as the singer navigates defining the relationship.
Anticipation is building for the expansion of “ILLIT core.” From their debut track “Magnetic” to “Cherish (My Love),” “Do the Dance,” and “NOT CUTE ANYMORE,” ILLIT has consistently captured public interest with fresh concepts. The group has been praised for establishing a unique and lovable identity, solidifying their signature style.
Through this new release, the five members—Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha—are expected to present another new musical direction and further expand their identity. BELIFT LAB stated, “The key point of this album is ILLIT’s honest attitude of focusing on the inner self and even enjoying complex emotions. You can look forward to seeing new sides of all five members.”
Last year, ILLIT achieved remarkable growth. Their third mini album bomb marked three consecutive entries on the Billboard 200, while the title track “NOT CUTE ANYMORE” reached No. 7 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, proving their strong presence in the mainstream pop market. In Japan, their first original track “Almond Chocolate” performed well on local charts and earned them the Excellence Award at the 67th Japan Record Awards, further solidifying their global influence.
ILLIT’s solo concerts have also seen strong demand. Their first tour ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS START♥’ in Seoul sold out all shows during pre-sale, with additional restricted-view seats opened due to overwhelming demand. The tour will continue across Japan—Aichi (June 13th–14th), Osaka (June 20th–21st), Fukuoka (June 29th–30th), Hyogo (July 18th–19th), and Tokyo (July 23rd and 25th–26th)—before concluding in Hong Kong on August 22nd.
