Actor Bae Sung Woo’s starring film ‘The Ultimate Duo’ following his past drunk driving controversy and public apology, is set to premiere in April.
The crime investigation drama ‘The Ultimate Duo,’ directed by Park Chul Hwan and inspired by a real case, has confirmed its release for April 2 and unveiled its teaser poster and trailer. The film follows Jaehyuk, a veteran detective demoted to a rural outpost, who teams up with rookie detective Jungho to travel to Seoul in pursuit of the true culprit behind a murder case involving two suspects.
The newly released poster features a blood stained hammer and evidence markers at a crime scene. Against this backdrop, the reckless yet seasoned detective Jaehyuk, played by Bae Sung Woo, walks alongside rising rookie detective Jungho, portrayed by Jung Garam, who is described as a former influencer turned high profile newcomer.
The tagline reads, “One case, two suspects, the search for the real culprit at the edge begins,” hinting at an unpredictable investigation and heightening anticipation for the duo’s relentless pursuit.
Bae Sung Woo and Jung Ga Ram form a detective partnership leading the reinvestigation, with Esom, Jo Han Chul and Yoon Kyung Ho joining the cast, further raising expectations.
Filming for ‘The Ultimate Duo’ was completed in 2019 and was previously known under the title ‘Business Trip Investigation’ before being retitled for release.
In 2024, at the production press conference for the Netflix series ‘The 8 Show,’ Bae Sung Woo publicly apologized for his drunk driving controversy, stating, “I believe I must first offer my sincere apology. I wanted to express my regret to those who showed interest and to others whom I disappointed. I was very cautious and fearful about the situation in which my personal issues could burden the people I worked with. I am truly sorry.”
