A scandal that has rocked both the entertainment and business sectors involving singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong Hyun) and PIAK Group Chairman and CEO of One Hundred Label, Cha Ga Won, has taken a dramatic turn, following direct statements from the individuals involved. New details revealed by reporter Kim Sung Min of Daily Issue, summarized on a YouTube video, have brought shocking allegations to light and are expected to fuel further controversy.
The controversy began with a media report that published alleged KakaoTalk messages exchanged between MC Mong and Chairman Cha. The messages contained explicit sexual language, including references to pregnancy and body parts, triggering widespread backlash. The two were accused of having an affair, and Chairman Cha strongly denied the allegations in an interview, stating, “I was completely taken aback when I saw the article. As a married woman with a child, the report is entirely false.”
The decisive twist came from MC Mong’s own confession. During a phone interview, MC Mong admitted that the KakaoTalk messages had been manipulated by him. He explained that he had taken conversations with another woman and changed the contact name to Cha Ga Won before sending them, emphasizing that the messages were not actual exchanges with Chairman Cha. Chairman Cha added, “I understand that MC Mong manipulated the messages with the help of an acquaintance or girlfriend.”
Behind the affair rumors was another conflict tied to MC Mong’s private life. According to reports, residents of MC Mong’s apartment complex filed repeated complaints, claiming that women who appeared to be employees of adult entertainment establishments were frequently entering the building late at night. Elevator CCTV footage reportedly captured several hostesses heading toward MC Mong’s residence around 11 PM.
MC Mong’s side denied the prostitution allegations, stating that he had merely hosted dinners and wine gatherings with acquaintances. However, Chairman Cha’s side countered that “ongoing complaints from residents made it necessary for the company to verify the situation,” and suggested that as tensions escalated, MC Mong may have leaked manipulated information either out of retaliation or for a specific purpose.
Chairman Cha has since filed a lawsuit against the media outlet involved, alleging that false information was reported without proper fact-checking or an opportunity for rebuttal. Adding another layer to the controversy, suspicions have emerged that someone impersonating a relative of Chairman Cha was involved in the tip-off process, raising further questions about possible behind-the-scenes actors.
Meanwhile, the case has expanded beyond a simple celebrity scandal, drawing attention to opaque financial dealings and artist management issues within the entertainment industry. Chairman Cha expressed deep disappointment, stating, “MC Mong avoided outside activities, citing depression, so meetings were often held at his home. Whenever he complained of personal financial difficulties, I lent him hundreds of millions of KRW. What I received in return were fabricated rumors.”
MC Mong has denied receiving an allowance from Chairman Cha but announced his intention to step back from all professional engagements. However, given the allegations surrounding message manipulation and prostitution, he is unlikely to escape moral criticism or potential legal consequences.
