Comedian Ahn Young Mi has announced that she is expecting her second child.
Ahn personally shared the news during the February 2 broadcast of MBC Radio’s 'Two O’Clock Date with Ahn Young Mi.'
On the show, she said, “Some listeners said last week that I seemed pregnant, and they were right. Since last week, many of our ‘Two O'Clock Date’ listeners posted messages saying they had noticed. I am pregnant, and I’m already in the middle stage. Because this is a late pregnancy, I had to be careful, so I couldn’t say anything and kept holding it in. I even tried to suppress the urge to talk about it. This is the first time I’m telling the ‘Two O'Clock Date’ family. I’m 44 years old now, so that’s how it turned out.”
She also shared a lighthearted story involving singer Navi, who is currently pregnant with her second daughter. Ahn Young Mi said, “We joked about getting pregnant together, and then the next week, Navi told me she was pregnant. After that, I found out I was pregnant too. Things really do happen the way you speak them into existence. Thank you so much for the congratulations. I had planned to announce it properly on the show, but I ended up rambling. As long as you have the will, things somehow work out,” she said with a laugh.
Ahn Young Mi went on to explain how difficult it was to keep the news to herself. “My first pregnancy was also considered a late pregnancy, but this one is definitely late, so every day feels like walking a tightrope. I’ve been anxious even now. It still feels risky, but I thought this might be a relatively stable period, so I decided to make a surprise announcement.”
Addressing past rumors about her health, she added, “When people speculated about my health because I lost weight in my face after eating ‘Dubai Chewy Cookie,’ it was only my face that slimmed down. Everywhere else gained weight. I hope I can be a source of hope for someone.” She also shared, “I told my mom as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and from that day on, she went around telling everyone at the Uijeongbu market. The baby’s nickname is ‘Ddakdong,’” explaining that it follows the nickname of her first child.
Ahn revealed that she is due to give birth in July. “My first child, Ddakkong, is a summer baby and was born in July during the hottest time of the year. My second child will also be born in July, and if things go well, their birthdays might even overlap. I’ll be having another C-section, and the baby is a boy,” she said, trailing off before she could continue.
She concluded by saying, “I didn’t have morning sickness with my first child, and I don’t have it with my second either, so I’ve been able to broadcast comfortably. I thought about this a lot. I sometimes feel like I can’t even take perfect care of my first child, so I wondered whether having a second made sense. But I really wanted to give my child a sibling. After weighing everything, I realized it wouldn’t ever feel like the right time. If not now, I felt I wouldn’t be able to have another child, so I decided to go for it.”
