Singer Jeong Dong Won has begun his mandatory military service.
His agency, Showplay Entertainment, announced on the 23rd that Jeong Dong Won entered the Marine Corps training center that day to commence his service.
The agency stated that the decision reflects a long-held aspiration on Jeong’s part, adding that he made a responsible choice to honor a promise he had made to himself.
They also expressed their support, saying, “We ask for your warm encouragement so that Jeong Dong Won can complete his military duty in good health and return to you with an even more mature side. We, too, will continue to support him unwaveringly as we await his return.”
Ahead of his enlistment, Jeong continued promoting and spending meaningful time with fans. On the 5th, he released the remake mini-album 'Special Collection Vol. 2,' preparing a musical gift for fans to enjoy during his absence.
On the 13th, he held a fan concert at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The performance, which marked his final official stage before enlistment, sold out entirely and concluded successfully.
Born in 2007, Jeong debuted in 2019 and rose to prominence in 2020 at just 13 years old after finishing fifth on the TV Chosun audition program 'Mr. Trot.' Since then, he has been loved for his steady stream of album releases and television appearances.
Following his enlistment, Jeong will undergo basic military training before serving approximately 18 months on active duty.
