SBS's upcoming new drama 'Phantom Lawyer' is raising anticipation with a new trailer ahead of the premiere.
Scheduled to premiere on March 13, 'Phantom Lawyer' or 'Shin Yi Rang's Law Firm' in Korean, follows the strange yet heartwarming “resentment-relief” adventure of Shin Yi Rang, a “possessed lawyer” who cathartically resolves the grudges of the dead, and Han Na Hyun, a cold-blooded elite attorney who stakes everything on winning her cases.
Blending fantasy with courtroom drama, the series is being hailed as a new chapter in SBS legal storytelling. It combines refreshing, fast-paced developments and humor with emotional warmth and gripping tension. At the center of anticipation is Yoo Yeon Seok, who takes on the role of Shin Yi Rang, a lawyer capable of being possessed by a wide range of eccentric clients.
The first teaser, released on February 13, heightened excitement by showcasing Yoo Yeon Seok’s dramatic transformation.
The video opens with Shin Yi Rang’s provocative question: “Do I still look like a lawyer to you?” What follows is his unpredictable behavior in the courtroom, boldly defying convention. From speaking in the gruff tone of a middle-aged man to suddenly shifting into the expressions of a young girl or child, his chameleon-like performance, depending on the possessing spirit, is striking.
In the drama, Shin Yi Rang opens his law office in Room 501 of Okcheon Building, a former shaman house, and soon begins seeing ghosts. His confession, “Sometimes I lose my grip on reality,” reveals a lawyer standing on the boundary between the real world and the supernatural. His unwanted possession ability ultimately turns him into a controversial figure, shaking up the Seocho-dong legal world.
Standing opposite him is Han Na Hyun, played by Esom. A cool-headed elite attorney who does not believe in ghosts, she is described as “the most relentless in the industry,” boasting a 100 percent win rate and unwavering principles. Her methodical approach sharply contrasts with Shin Yi Rang’s spirit-driven tactics.
Yet as bizarre cases begin to pile up, subtle changes emerge. “It’s heartless to let you fight alone. I’ll help you now,” Han Na Hyun says, hinting at the possibility of collaboration. Even as she initially remains unmoved by Shin Yi Rang’s playful winks and flirting, a pink-tinged tension gradually develops between them.
Adding to the mounting tension is Yang Do Kyung, head of the law firm, played by Kim Kyung Nam. “So you want to try? Let’s see how long you last,” he says, openly pressuring the two lawyers. A shocking scene involving a dump truck accident foreshadows looming danger.
As the whirlwind of events unfolds, questions abound: How will these chaotic cases conclude? And does the final line - “Attorney Han, will you stay by my side?” - signal that the two lawyers’ partnership will evolve into a spellbound romance? The teaser leaves viewers intrigued on multiple fronts.
