The original soundtrack “Golden” from Netflix’s animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has made history once again.
At the 68th Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony held on February 1 (local time) in Los Angeles, “Golden” was announced as the winner of Best Song Written for Visual Media. The category honors songwriters whose work for visual media demonstrates both artistic and musical excellence, making the win especially significant.
Riding on the film’s global success, “Golden” has already proven its worldwide impact. The track became the first K-pop song to simultaneously top the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100, cementing its status as a global hit.
With this win, song contributors EJAE, Teddy, 24, and IDO (Yoo Han, Kwak Jung-gyu, Nam Hee-dong) officially earn the title of Grammy winners. While there have been previous Grammy wins by Korean-heritage engineers or overseas-based professionals, this marks the first time K-pop composers and producers themselves have received a Grammy Award, drawing particular attention within the industry.
Producer 24 shared in his acceptance remarks, “Although he couldn’t be here with us today, I dedicate this honor to my greatest mentor and closest friend, Teddy—the pioneer of K-pop—who was with me throughout this entire journey.”
The victory signals a historic milestone not only for 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', but for K-pop’s expanding influence within the global music and film industries.
