ILLIT has once again been chosen to sing a theme song for a Japanese TV animation.
According to Belift Lab, a label under HYBE Music Group, on February 3rd KST, ILLIT (Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) will perform the opening theme song ‘Bubee’ for the TV anime ‘Magical Sisters LulutoriRi,’ which is scheduled to air in April.
‘Bubee’ is a dance pop track based on J-pop with added Shibuya-kei subculture influences. ILLIT shared, “While recording ‘Bubee,’ it felt like we were immersed in the world of the animation. Please listen closely to the cute lyrics and bouncy melody.”
‘Magical Sisters LulutoriRi’ tells the story of sisters who gain magical powers and transform into the adults they once admired, then begin idol activities without knowing each other’s true identities. As a new work from Studio Pierrot, which has produced the “magical girl” series since 1983, the anime is drawing high expectations from fans. Attention is also on the special synergy expected from ILLIT, who have captured the tastes of teens and young adults with a magical girl concept, joining this series.
ILLIT has been gaining attention in the OST scene with their signature refreshing vocals and trendy charm. Recently, they received positive responses after consecutively releasing ‘Sunday Morning,’ the opening song for the Japanese TV anime ‘’Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess’ Season 2, and ‘Finding Secrets,’ the ending song for the anime ‘Pokémon: Mega Voltage,’ which aired domestically.
In particular, ‘Almond Chocolate,’ released in February last year as the theme song for the film ‘I Don’t Like You Just for Your Looks,’ swept Japanese music charts and achieved the feat of winning the ‘Excellence Award’ at the ‘67th Japan Record Awards.’
Meanwhile, ILLIT will accelerate their global activities by holding their first tour ‘ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS START♥’’ across seven cities both in Korea and overseas. They will kick off the tour on March 14–15 at Ticketlink Live Arena in Seoul, followed by Aichi on June 13–14, Osaka on June 20–21, Fukuoka on June 29–30, Hyogo on July 18–19, Tokyo on July 23 and 25–26, and the finale in Hong Kong on August 22.
