Kim Sunggyu has kicked off his comeback in earnest by unveiling part of the concept for his new album.
His agency Billions released the first “piece” of Kim Sunggyu’s 6th mini album ‘OFF THE MAP’ through its official social media on February 2nd KST.
In the revealed photos, Kim Sunggyu completes a calm atmosphere within an empty space composed only of walls and a floor in a black and white mood. Standing under a light shining down from the ceiling or sitting on a chair while gazing straight ahead, he conveys both restrained emotion and deep immersion.
In particular, the monotone imagery reminiscent of rough film texture, contrasted with the interplay of light and shadow, captures Kim Sunggyu’s signature mood even more clearly and draws attention. His eyes, which express emotion in a composed rather than exaggerated way, along with his natural poses, further heighten curiosity about the new music he will present through the upcoming album.
Previously, Kim Sunggyu heightened fans’ curiosity by unveiling a mysterious scheduler and uploading it together with the phrase “OPEN ANYTIME!” This set of photos was also released as an extension of the empty scheduler promotion, continuing to build anticipation.
The release of Kim Sunggyu’s solo album comes about 2 years and 8 months after his 5th mini album ‘2023 S/S Collection,’ which was released in June 2023. Having prepared for a long time, expectations are high for how Kim Sunggyu, who is set to showcase evolved musical capabilities through the new album ‘OFF THE MAP,’ will color the music scene with his distinct emotions.
Meanwhile, Kim Sunggyu’s 6th mini album ‘OFF THE MAP’ will be released on various music platforms on March 2 at 6 PM.
