Hanni of girl group NewJeans, who previously announced her return to activities following a legal dispute with her agency ADOR, has been spotted overseas, drawing attention from fans.
On January 27, a post surfaced on the global social media platform X (formerly Twitter) claiming, “I met Hanni at the Australian Open tennis tournament.” The post included a photo of a cap signed by Hanni as proof.
According to the individual who encountered her, Hanni appeared to be in very good condition. However, they added that “it may still take some time before her full return,” fueling speculation about the group’s comeback schedule.
Fans responded with excitement and anticipation regarding NewJeans’ future activities. At the same time, some expressed disappointment, noting that Hanni’s stay abroad suggests the group’s comeback plans have yet to be finalized.
Meanwhile, ADOR won a lawsuit in October last year confirming the validity of its exclusive contracts with all five NewJeans members. The members had previously argued that ADOR lacked both the will and ability to protect them, citing alleged contract violations by HYBE and ADOR as grounds for termination.
Following the court’s ruling, the members—who had insisted on independent activities—ultimately returned to ADOR. In December, Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni officially confirmed their return. Minji is reportedly still in discussions, while Danielle terminated her contract, citing violations of exclusive contract terms.
Amid these developments, former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin’s legal team claimed that a family member of a NewJeans member was connected to the “NewJeans tampering” allegations.
