On March 13 KST, the 22nd civil division of the Seoul Central District Court convened for the second hearing in the ongoing dispute between actor Kim Soo Hyun and the cosmetics brand 'A'.
Previously, one cosmetic brand sued Kim Soo Hyun and his agency for violating the advertisement model contract, demanding 2.8 billion KRW (~ 1.9 million USD) in damages incurred due to Kim Soo Hyun's scandal.
On this day, the court inquired of any updates on another of Kim Soo Hyun's ongoing lawsuits, the one against the cyber wrecker YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute and its host, Kim Se Eui. Kim Soo Hyun's legal representative answered, "No decision has been made, but the ruling will be determined soon."
Kim Soo Hyun's legal representative continued to deny that Kim Soo Hyun dated fellow actress Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor, maintaining that Garo Sero Institute had spread false rumors. The denial comes in response to cosmetic brand 'A's initial argument, which claimed that it had suffered significant damages because Kim Soo Hyun failed to "uphold dignity as a public figure by dating a minor".
In relation to the ongoing hearings, Kim Soo Hyun's legal representative stated, "There is no choice but to wait for the [other case] ruling. According to the advertisement contract, the contract cannot be terminated over unconfirmed rumors and accusations. It will be possible to calculate the correct amount of damages incurred only after the ruling."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun's advertisement model contract with cosmetic brand 'A' was due to expire in August of 2025, 5 months after the major scandal broke out in March.
