Danielle has drawn attention after news emerged that she made a large charitable donation amid an ongoing legal dispute with her former agency.
On January 9, the nonprofit organization YANA (You Are Not Alone) shared a post on its official Instagram account commemorating its fourth anniversary. In the post, YANA wrote, “Celebrating our fourth anniversary. Thank you to all donors and volunteers who have walked alongside us. Over the past four years, YANA has been able to stay by the side of children in need thanks to your trust and generosity. We sincerely thank each and every person who participated in our donations.”
YANA is a nonprofit organization that supports vulnerable groups, including children under protection and young adults preparing for independent living. Along with the message, YANA released a list of donors, which included Danielle’s name. According to the organization, she donated a total of 302 million KRW (about 205,000 USD), drawing widespread attention. The donor list also revealed that actor Cha In Pyo and actress Shin Ae Ra contributed 576.13 million KRW (about 391,000 USD) as a couple.
Meanwhile, last month, NewJeans’ agency ADOR notified Danielle of the termination of her exclusive contract and filed a lawsuit against her seeking approximately 43.1 billion KRW (about 29.3 million USD) in penalties and damages.
In an official statement, ADOR explained, “In Danielle’s case, we determined that it would be difficult to continue working together as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist, and therefore notified her of the termination of her exclusive contract. Additionally, we plan to hold legally responsible one member of Danielle’s family and former CEO Min Hee Jin, who bear significant responsibility for causing this dispute and for NewJeans’ departure and delayed return.”
Danielle’s donation has since sparked discussion online, as it comes amid heightened public scrutiny surrounding her legal battle with ADOR.
