EXO member Lay has issued an apology for his absence from the group’s fan meeting.
On December 14, Lay explained via Chinese social media that he had to urgently return to Beijing to attend an important event hosted by the National Theatre of China.
He expressed his apologies to fans and fellow members, saying, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who may have been inconvenienced by my absence.”
Lay was originally scheduled to participate in EXO’s fan meeting, 'EXO’verse,' held the same day at Inspire Arena in Incheon. However, changes to his schedule ultimately prevented his attendance.
SM Entertainment stated, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, Lay will not be able to attend the fan meeting. We ask for your understanding regarding the change in participating members.”
The agency did not disclose specific details behind his absence. However, given that the National Theatre of China operates under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the decision is believed to have been unavoidable.
Meanwhile, EXO is preparing to release a full-length album in the first quarter of next year.
