Following the sudden news that Lay would be absent from EXO's fan meeting due to "unavoidable circumstances," it has been revealed that the singer has already left Korea.
On December 14, SM Entertainment confirmed the news to media outlets, stating, "It is true that Lay departed for China today." However, the agency remained tight-lipped regarding the specific reason for his sudden exit.
According to reports, Lay had completed the rehearsal for the fan meeting on the 13th. However, immediately after the rehearsal, he reportedly received a contact from the Chinese side. Shortly after, he informed SM that it would be difficult for him to attend the event and boarded a flight to China early in the morning on the 14th.
While the exact reason remains undisclosed, speculation is rising that the sudden change may be related to political issues between China and Korea (such as the ban on Korean culture), given the timing of the call and his immediate departure.
Meanwhile, EXO proceeded with their 'EXO'verse' fan meeting today at Inspire Arena with members Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun.
