MEOVV is receiving praise for making a last-minute change to their performance at the ‘2025 MAMA Awards.’
On November 28, MEOVV made an appearance at the MAMA Awards, performing their hit song ‘BURNING UP.’ However, in light of the recent devastating Hong Kong fires, which have now left over 120 people dead, the MAMA Awards aimed to take a respectful tone with its performances – even if it meant making some last-minute changes.
MEOVV is now gaining attention for going above and beyond to make sure their performance was respectful, even going as far as changing the title of the song from ‘BURNING UP’ to ‘TURN IT UP.’ The group made many key lyric changes, including changing ‘MEOVV heating up’ to ‘MEOVV say what’, ‘Got me burning up’ to ‘got me, turn it up,’ and ‘so hot feel the rush’ to ‘ayy, feel the rush.’ The group also made multiple choreography changes.
The difficulty of making so many changes with less than 2 days to prepare, as well as singing live with so many lyric changes, is earning MEOVV widespread praise for their respectful performance.
MEOVV’s company, THE BLACK LABEL, also made a significant donation to emergency relief efforts in Hong Kong. THE BLACK LABEL donated $500,000 HKD (about $64,241 USD) to assist victims of the fires.
