[Spoiler Alert: Episode Plot Points]
This article contains plot points from ‘Dear X’ Episodes 5-8.
TVing’s first global release, 'Dear X,' is earning enthusiastic reception across international streaming platforms, quickly rising into top-tier rankings worldwide.
According to Tving on November 20, 'Dear X' was launched simultaneously on HBO Max, Disney+ Japan, Rakuten Viki, and STARZPLAY—key global OTT services—where it is receiving strong responses.
Since its domestic release on November 6, the series has maintained its momentum, ranking No. 1 for two consecutive weekends in Tving’s “new paid subscriber contribution” category.

Its popularity abroad is expanding rapidly. In its first week, the drama placed within the Top 3 weekly rankings on Viki across North America, Europe, Oceania, and India. It also claimed the No. 1 spot in 108 countries, including the United States, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and India. The series is performing strongly in Asia as well, breaking into the Top 3 on Disney+ Japan’s daily chart. HBO Max further designated Dear X as one of the highest-performing Asian titles in 17 markets across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
In the Middle East and Africa, the drama was released on STARZPLAY with simultaneous Arabic subtitles—a first for a CJ ENM title. It climbed into the Top 5 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, signaling strong engagement from local viewers.
A Tving representative stated, “The explosive reaction to our first global launch reaffirms the competitive power of K-content. This achievement serves as a meaningful milestone demonstrating how original IP from a Korean OTT can successfully expand overseas. We expect Dear X to solidify its position as a flagship example of K-content as it continues to build its global fanbase.”

'Dear X' tells the story of Baek Ah Jin (played by Kim Yoo Jung), a woman who wears a mask to escape her personal hell and climb to the top, and the “Xs” who were cruelly trampled by her along the way. The cast includes Kim Yoo Jung, Kim Young Dae, Kim Do Hoon, and Lee Yeol Eum, with special appearances from Kim Ji Hoon, Hwang In Youp, Jung Woo, and Kim Yoo Mi.
Episodes 5 and 6, released earlier, followed Baek A Jin on her rapidly rising path to the top. Driven by ambition, she sets her next target on Heo In Kang (Hwang In Yeob), who, by the end of Episode 6, falls squarely into her trap, heightening the tension.

Episodes 7 and 8, released on November 20, dive into swirling dating rumors between Baek Ah Jin and Heo In Kang, further complicating the emotional stakes among the characters surrounding them. Attention centers on the increasingly precarious trajectory of Baek Ah Jin, watched anxiously by Yoon Jun Seo (played by Kim Young Dae) and Kim Jae Oh (portrayed by Kim Do Hoon).
Viewer reactions continue to be fervent across online communities. Comments include: “The acting is incredible—so immersive,” “Kim Yoo Jung is Baek A Jin; she’s phenomenal,” “Whoever cast all these male roles deserves an award,” “The director has real vision,” “The directing is insane,” “This drama is unbelievably good,” “It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed something this much,” “Please release the next episodes—I’m dying over here,” and “There’s not a single dull moment.”
'Dear X' releases two new episodes every Thursday at 6 PM KST.
