The '2025 SBS Drama Awards' will once again take place on December 31, returning to its traditional year-end schedule for the first time in three years.
According to reporting from SPOTV News on November 20, the ceremony is set to be held on the final day of the year, restoring the long-standing custom that had been temporarily broken.
Historically, the 'SBS Drama Awards' has always been held on December 31. However, in 2023 the event was moved to December 29, and in 2024 it shifted even earlier to December 21. These changes marked the first break in the year-end tradition in 24 years. After two years of avoiding the last day of the year, SBS has decided to bring the ceremony back to its original date in 2025.
By returning to December 31, SBS aims to close the year by gathering the stars who led its dramas throughout 2025. The event will serve as a moment for actors, creators and production teams to celebrate one another’s hard work and to honor the performers who will take home the top awards of the night.
SBS has enjoyed another strong year of drama successes. The network led a nationwide melodrama boom with 'Love Scout,' while 'Buried Hearts' highlighted powerful acting performances. Other standout titles such as 'The Haunted Palace,' 'Our Movie,' 'The Winning Try,' 'Would You Marry Me?,' 'Queen Mantis,' the newly launched 'Dynamite Kiss,' and the highly anticipated upcoming 'Taxi Driver 3' further reinforced SBS’s reputation as a drama powerhouse.
With such a strong lineup, attention is now focused on which production and which actors will claim the highest honors at this year's restored year-end celebration.
