Actor Kang Ha Neul shared insights into his daily life, revealing that he does not frequently use mobile messaging apps.
On the morning of October 24, Kang Ha Neul spoke at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, during an interview for his upcoming film 'The First Ride,' directed by Nam Dae Jung.
'The First Ride' is a comedy about a group of lifelong friends embarking on their first overseas trip. The film features Tae Jung (Kang Ha Neul), the responsible one, Do Jin (Kim Young Kwang), the cheerful one, Yeon Min (Cha Eun Woo), the handsome one, Geum Bok (Kang Young Seok), the sleepy one, and Ok Sim (Han Sunhwa), the lovable one. Kang Ha Neul plays Tae Jung, who appears perfect when alone but shows a humorous, imperfect side around his friends.
Kang Ha Neul explained that he fully dedicates his breaks to personal time. He said with a shy smile, "Even the group chat created during the filming of 'The First Ride' is not something I really check."
Previously, co-star Han Sunhwa expressed disappointment that Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, and Kang Young Seok created a group chat without including her. Addressing this, Kang Ha Neul clarified, "It was not intentional. Sunhwa had finished filming in Thailand and returned to Korea earlier. At that point, only the three of us were left, so we created the chat. Even I rarely check it."
He continued, "I actually keep KakaoTalk notifications turned off. My messages just show '999+' unread. For work-related matters, I receive messages via SMS. I usually ask those I need to communicate with professionally to contact me by text."
Kang Ha Neul added candidly, "I apologize if this communication style is inconvenient or disappointing to anyone, but it is part of my rest routine. I do not want to live tied to messaging apps."
He also emphasized his approach to personal downtime. "When I am resting, I like to rest fully as myself. So even if I send a message and do not get a reply for a long time, I understand. I am not averse to calling, but I do not actively prefer phone conversations either."
'The First Ride' will be released on October 29.
