Singer Sean marked the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day in a heartfelt way, leading the charity marathon event, ‘815 Run.’
On August 15, Sean participated as an “offline runner” at the '2025 815 Run' held at Seoul’s World Cup Park in Sangam. Braving the summer heat, he completed 81.5 km in 7 hours, 50 minutes, and 21 seconds.
Several celebrities joined to support the cause, including actors Im Si Wan (Siwan), Siwon, Yoon Se Ah, Jin Sun Kyu, Go Han Min, Lim Se Mi, Lee Si Woo, and former national footballers Lee Young Pyo and Cho Won Hee. Actor Park Bo Gum participated remotely from Singapore, where he was holding his fan meeting tour ‘Be With You,’ but confirmed his involvement after the event.
Sean shared the news on social media, posting a photo with the caption: “It will be okay, Republic of Korea! Bo Gum also certified it.” The post included a shot of Park Bo Gum wearing the campaign T-shirt from behind. Danielle of NewJeans also joined the offline run, with photos circulating online showing him running alongside other participants in a white cap and sunglasses.
Danielle also appeared in official marathon photos, standing next to Yoon Se Ah for a group picture. Yoon Se Ah introduced the moment with: “Danielle and the Sisters—an acquaintance made possible by Sean.”
The ‘815 Run’ is a charity marathon organized by Sean and the international housing nonprofit Korea Habitat for Humanity to honor the dedication and sacrifice of Korean independence activists and support their descendants.
This year marked the sixth edition of the event, attracting the largest number of participants in its history. Sean shared, “The '815 Run' started in 2020 with 3,000 participants, and this year it ended with 19,450.”
The campaign has also raised substantial funds. Sean stated, “The initial goal was 1 billion KRW (approx. USD 750,000), and we raised 330 million KRW (approx. USD 250,000) in the first year. Last year, we surpassed the target with 1.3 billion KRW (approx. USD 975,000), and this year, we raised 2.1 billion KRW (approx. USD 1.57 million).”
A portion of the funds is allocated to improving housing for descendants of independence activists. In April, the 18th and 19th homes were completed, and homes 20 through 22 are currently under construction.
