On August 23, HIGHLIGHT held their long-awaited solo concert in Manila, titled 'Ride or Die,' 16 years after their debut in 2009.
Dujun, Yoseop, Gikwang, and Dongwoon commanded the stage with the opening songs "Chains," "Switch On," and "Stay."
Throughout the two-hour show, the members proved their crystal-clear vocals, which echoed across the venue. They hit every note from start to finish, making it a show well worth the time and leaving the audience wanting more.
While the members wowed the audience with their stage presence, skills, and harmony, HIGHLIGHT was, in turn, also shocked by how the fans sang along in tune, truly proving the phrase, "like idols, like fans."
The boys complimented the fans for their precise pronunciation, making them think that they were actually in Korea.
Other songs included on the setlist were "We Up," "Dance With U," "Fiction," "Shock," and "Body," among others.
Toward the end of the show, each of the members took time for their final speech, starting with Dujun, who said, "It's been nine years since we last visited the Philippines. We're so sorry we came back here too late. We'll do our best to come as soon as possible for you."
Yoseop shared, "Because of your hot and passionate cheers, we were able to perform happily tonight. I had so much fun that I'm sad the concert is only one day. If we get another opportunity to meet you, we'll definitely come back, so please stay healthy until then."
Gikwang said, "I was expecting this passionate welcome from you. Your cheers don't need an energizer. Because of your fan chants and love, we were able to enjoy the concert together. I don't know how things will go, but we promise we'll come back. Until then, please stay healthy and wealthy."
Dongwoon shared a piece of information, mentioning he was able to study in a province in the country. "The neighbors actually called me Harry Potter because I was wearing circular glasses at that time. At the end of this concert, you guys are the Harry Potter and Hermione. Thank you so much for presenting a magical day and concert for us."
HIGHLIGHT's 'Ride or Die' concert in Manila was presented by Three Angles Production.
