KBS2’s new weekend drama ‘Twelve’ opened strong, surpassing the 8% mark in its very first episode and immediately claiming the top spot among competing weekend series. According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere episode, broadcast on August 23, 2025 KST, recorded an average nationwide rating of 8.1%, outperforming other dramas airing in the same time slot led by Yoon Kye Sang and Lee Jin Wook.
The series is a fantasy action drama about twelve angels who have protected humanity for thousands of years and must now battle the resurrected forces of evil known as Ogui. The debut episode introduced both the angels’ long-standing mission and their lives disguised as humans, captivating viewers with distinctive character portrayals.
From his very first appearance, tiger angel Tae San (Ma Dong Seok) stole the spotlight with his leopard-print outfit and commanding presence. As the head of Angel Capital, he confronted debtor Jo Yang Soo (Shin Seung Hwan) in prison, declaring: “In the past 100 years I’ve done this job, I’ve never once failed to collect.” The line fueled intrigue about Tae San’s true identity and the enigmatic Angel Capital organization.

Within the Tae San Building, the angelic workforce splits roles: Angel Capital’s collectors Won Seung (Seo In Guk), Kang Ji (Kang Mi Na), Jwi Dol (Sung Yoo Bin), and Mal Sook (Ahn Ji Hye) maintain a perfect debt recovery rate, while the Tae San Oriental Clinic, staffed by doctor Bang Wool (Regina Lei) and nurse Do Ni (Go Kyu Pil), boasts a 100% healing rate. Their everyday routines, blending ordinary human life with angelic duties, drew viewers into the drama’s unique world-building.
Elsewhere, dragon angel Mir (Lee Joo Bin) lived apart from the others, working as a museum curator. When overseer Ma Rok (Sung Dong Il) urged her to rejoin the group, saying “you shouldn’t be separated like this,” Mir firmly refused, her cryptic demeanor and a dragon-emblazoned necklace hinting at hidden truths.

Action sequences soon took center stage. Tae San delivered bone-crushing punches, while Won Seung showed agile footwork leaping between walls, Kang Ji and Mal Sook overpowered larger opponents, and Jwi Dol provided tech support via CCTV. Nurse Do Ni surprised with brute force, flooring an enemy with a body slam. Each angel’s power was highlighted in thrilling, fast-paced choreography.
The atmosphere darkened with the arrival of the antagonists. In a cavernous hideout, priest Sa Min (Kim Chan Hyung) resurrected the long-sealed Ogui (Park Hyung Sik), escalating tension to its peak.
‘Twelve’ airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m. KST on KBS2, and is available for streaming shortly after broadcast on Disney+.
