Singer and actress IU revealed the close friendship she shares with actor Park Bo Gum.
On August 14, IU posted a new video titled '[IU TV] For Kwan Sik (See You on Bo Gum Day)' on her official YouTube channel.
The video captures IU making a surprise appearance on the final recording of KBS 2TV’s 'The Seasons – Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile.' The program, hosted by Park Bo Gum, concluded its run on August 1. IU showed up with a bouquet, saying, “I came to keep my promise for the final episode,” leaving Park Bo Gum momentarily stunned. The unexpected gesture brought him to tears.
During a brief break, Park Bo Gum expressed his gratitude to IU: “What? Really… thank you so much. I didn’t expect this at all.”
IU shared her thoughts, saying, “I was a bit flustered myself. Surprising someone always makes me a little crazy, but seeing Bo Gum so happy made it all worthwhile. It’s actually midnight now, and I’m a bit worried about how the audience will get home. I’m so grateful they stayed until the end. I’ll watch the broadcast too. I really loved ‘Cantabile.’”
About a week later, IU reunited with Park Bo Gum at his solo fan meeting held at Jangchung Arena in Jung-gu, Seoul, on August 1, where she appeared as a guest.
IU joked about her surprise visits, saying, “‘During the Cantabile recording, I showed up without Bo Gum knowing. He’s a very organized person, so I’m sure he didn’t plan on seeing me so often. He probably felt a little overwhelmed—‘Ji Eun, you’re here again? Don’t you have work?’”
She then explored the lavish waiting room Park Bo Gum had prepared for her. “He’s not someone who overlooks small details. This [gift in the shopping bag] is a hat. He said I should wear it in the strong sun. Thank you, Bo Gum,” IU said.
IU also shared a personal anecdote about a gift from Park Bo Gum: “He gave me a checkered shirt before. I’ve worn it all summer. It’s a sky-blue checkered shirt. I’ve been preparing to move for two years, and now it’s almost done. I’ve moved all my things to the new place, so at home I only have two shirts left—the sky-blue checkered one and another checkered shirt.”
She added about the hat, “I haven’t opened it yet, but Bo Gum has such great taste that I know it will become part of my daily ‘uniform.’ I’ll use it well.”
