JYP Entertainment has announced that it has filed lawsuits against individuals posting malicious comments targeting its girl group ITZY.
On August 22, the agency released an official statement through its community channels, reaffirming its stance on protecting its artists. "We have repeatedly stated that we will take strong action against any behavior that infringes on the rights of our artists. Based on fan reports and our own monitoring, we are actively pursuing legal measures," the statement said.
The agency emphasized that malicious defamation, sexual harassment, and the spreading of false information about the members, which have been posted on online communities, social media platforms, and video-sharing channels both in Korea and abroad, are all considered unlawful acts and will be subject to legal action. JYP Entertainment added that due to a recent increase in such cases, it is intensifying its monitoring and legal response.
"We will pursue every possible legal action throughout the process, and there will be absolutely no leniency or settlements," the statement continued. "We will also respond in real time through continuous monitoring and hold individuals accountable even if they attempt to delete evidence to evade responsibility."
The agency further encouraged fans to participate in protecting the artists by reporting malicious content. "We are regularly collecting harmful posts about our artists and pursuing legal action. We ask for the continued attention and active reports from fans," it said.
JYP Entertainment concluded its statement by expressing gratitude for the support ITZY continues to receive from fans worldwide.
