On August 28, G.NA posted on her social media, writing, “Hello, it’s been a while,” along with a recent photo. This marks her first direct communication with fans in about a year. Previously, she had alarmed many by leaving a cryptic message, “Goodbye, world,” sparking concern over her well-being.
G.NA was convicted in 2016 on charges of engaging in prostitution. She was accused of receiving 35 million KRW (approx. $29,000) from a Korean-American businessman in Los Angeles in April 2015, and another 15 million KRW (approx. $12,500) from a domestic businessman later that year in exchange for sexual relations.
Although G.NA denied the allegations, claiming she had consensually met the men as part of a personal relationship, the court dismissed her defense. She was ultimately fined 2 million KRW (approx. $1,600) under the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic. Following the conviction, she halted all entertainment activities.
Before the controversy, G.NA was one of K-pop’s rising stars, releasing a string of hit songs including “I’ll Get Lost, You Go Your Way,” “Black & White,” “Top Girl,” and “G.NA’s Secret.” Once a prominent soloist in the Korean music scene, she has since stepped away from the spotlight and is currently living in Canada.
