Epik High answered a few candid questions from fans and gave their take on the view that the group might be drifting away from their Hip Hop roots.
Earlier last month, Epik High sat down with the LEmag YouTube channel to talk about various topics, including their music, career, and life. Epik High also answered some of the fans' questions.
One question was: "Is Epik High straying from Hip Hop?"
Epik High opened up light-heartedly with Tablo saying, "Really? Huh!" and Mithra Jin responding, "Oh, geez..." and DJ Tukuz saying, "How can we get back into the scene?"
Tablo then candidly shared, "To be honest, when you get married and become a father, you get really busy. You don't have time." He jokingly added, "I've also drifted from my friends. The current situation is, I don't even have the energy to worry if we've drifted from the Hip Hop scene, and from the fans' sight."

Mithra Jin added, "When people reach this age, and in this environment, you can't pay attention to a lot of things. I have to soothe my crying child in front of me; I have to deal with that. I even drift from my child's view." He explained he doesn't have the leisure to worry about whether he had gone far from the fans' sight. Tukuz joked, "I haven't even seen my father for three years."
Going back on a more serious note, Tablo responded, "If people feel that way (that Epik High had drifted away), it's not wrong. And if that becomes motivation to make better music, that's great. But in Epik High's case, that question is a bit ambiguous because, look at our beginnings."
He elaborated, "From our first album, a lot of ballad singers featured on our songs, which wasn't common back then. When a song like 'Umbrella (feat. Younha)' came out, not everyone liked it. Some people probably said, 'It's not good, they've changed.' From the beginning, we were somewhat starting from a distant position (from Hip Hop)."
After hearing Epik High's candid answer to the question of whether they're drifting away from Hip Hop, more fans praised the group for evolving and changing. Fans pointed out that Epik High's attitude of not conforming to the norm and what 'Hip Hop' is defined as is true Hip Hop.
They commented:
"They're Hip Hop."
"They are the epitome of Hip Hop; Not conforming to the definition, lol."
"I love watching their YouTube channel these days."
"Epik High is Hip Hop itself."
"They're so funny. I want to learn from them."
"Their attitude is hip hop."
"Lol, they're so funny."
"I love Epik High."
"They're so honest and they're hip hop."
"This is why I like them so much."
