The issue began when a post titled 'My ex-boyfriend’s agency sent me 800 million KRW (about $615,000)' appeared on a popular anonymous online community. The author, who claimed to be the ex-girlfriend of an actor, alleged that her former partner had cheated on her before their breakup and that his agency tried to pay her to keep quiet.
She wrote that he was planning to appear on a reality TV show within six months to showcase his wedding preparations with a new girlfriend. According to her, the timeline of their relationship would not match what would be shown on the program. She stated that the agency offered the money in advance as a form of "consolation" to prevent her from speaking out.
In the comments, the author mentioned that the actor is over 30 and recognizable by name, which led internet users to speculate about celebrities who recently announced engagements. Some users posted unverified comments hinting at an actor with the initials "O J W." These posts led to rumors that On Joo Wan, who recently announced his upcoming November wedding to singer and actress Minah, was the actor in question.
On July 30, On Joo Wan’s agency responded through Xports News, stating clearly that the rumors are not related to him. They emphasized that On Joo Wan has no connection to the situation.
The anonymous poster continued to share additional claims, suggesting that the timeline might indicate a rebound breakup or infidelity. She recalled the agency telling her not to mention the incident and allegedly dismissing her feelings by saying she never seriously planned to marry him anyway. She described him as "not a great guy" and said she had previously brought up the idea of marriage.
She is still considering whether to return the 800 million KRW (about $615,000) she received. According to her, whether they broke up or did not get married was their private matter. However, she believes that rejecting the hush money is within her rights now that she knows he was dating someone else during their relationship.
Despite the denial from On Joo Wan’s side, speculation and assumptions continue to circulate online. No concrete evidence has been presented to confirm the identity of the actor involved in the original post.
