Yunho of TVXQ has expressed his gratitude for the unexpected resurgence of his 2021 solo track 'Thank U', which recently began charting again thanks to viral memes and online buzz.
In a video released by Arena Homme Plus on July 28 titled “Professor Yunho’s Fourth Lesson Is Finally Here!”, the singer reflected on recent milestones and his ongoing creative journey.
“Because I’ve worked hard, I think I’m at a place where I’m creating something that lets me refresh. It feels like a reward for myself,” Yunho said. He also shared that he celebrated TVXQ’s 20th anniversary and successfully wrapped up their Japan tour. “With SMTOWN’s 30th anniversary, I performed ‘Psycho’ after a long time. I’m also preparing to promote 'Pine: The Bumpkins', which I filmed last year.”
When asked about the viral comeback of Thank U, Yunho admitted, “I’ve gotten a lot of questions about it. It’s a bit surreal. It started as a meme, but I’m thankful that a song from four years ago is receiving so much love again.”
Yunho emphasized the importance of being loved—but also loving oneself. “These days I’m very focused on loving myself and receiving love from myself,” he said.
He revealed that he plans to start dance and vocal lessons again, noting that dance, in particular, has been a powerful force in shaping who he is: “With so many genres out there now, I want to prepare ahead of time.”
Yunho is also earning praise for his performance as Beolgu in the Disney+ original series 'Pine: The Bumpkins'. Discussing the role, he shared, “Beolgu is very different from my actual personality, so preparing for the role was challenging.” He even traveled to Mokpo right after being cast to study the 1970s Jeolla dialect. “I talked a lot with the locals. I wanted to really understand the culture and emotional nuances.”
