A confusion erupted recently when a festival made a mistake of showing Girls' Generation's Taeyeon as a performing artist on its poster.
On July 13, a poster for the upcoming Jangsu Korean Beef and Apple Festival, scheduled for mid-September, went viral when it showed Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon as a performing artist. The poster quickly spread across various online communities in Korea, with fans excited about the news.
Unfortunately, it was clarified that the SM artist would not be appearing, and the mistake was made by officials. An official from the event explained, “We did receive notice from the agency that it was Girls Generation’s Taeyeon, but after lunch today, they informed us the booking had failed. We are now working to update the poster and find a replacement artist.”
However, SM Entertainment refuted the festival claims and released a statement regarding this incident. SM Entertainment stated, "It is not true that Taeyeon will be performing at a local festival in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province. She was never contacted for it. We hope there is no confusion among fans."
Following the clarification, Korean netizens and fans reacted:
"This was so confusing."
"What the..."
"This is such a mess."
"The event planner definitely got mixed up."
"The Trot singer who is performing is also Kim Tae Yeon but she is active as Kim Tae Yeon."
"Shouldn't they check and confirm the artists' list before printing?"
"I think there was definitely confusion since they have the same name. They could've been like 'Is Taeyeon (Girls' Generation) appearing?' and 'Yes, Tae Yeon (trot singer) is appearing.' I think this is what happened."
"What kind of sloppy handling is this?"
"This is such poor handling."
"Geez...."
"Why did they print the poster if her appearance wasn't even confirmed?"
"They really suck at this work."
