The “dreaming youth band” CATCH THE YOUNG set the seaside city of Busan ablaze with vibrant summer energy.
CATCH THE YOUNG—consisting of members Sani, Gihun, Namhyun, Junyong, and Jungmo—successfully wrapped up their outdoor busking performance “Youth in the Summer, Busan,” held last weekend at Millak Waterside Park in Gwangalli, Busan. Once again, the band reaffirmed their reputation as a live-specialized act.
The concert opened with “On My Way to See You,” a track that echoes the footsteps of youth. Blending acoustic guitar with smooth vocals, the band instantly captivated the audience. They followed with “Voyager” and “Talking to Myself,” gracefully unfolding CATCH THE YOUNG’s signature narrative-driven sound. Their rearranged band version of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” offered a refreshing and unexpected twist on the classic, elevating the energy of the street performance. The final track, “Ideal Type,” filled the summer night with its crisp synth-rock sound.
Responding to the audience’s calls for an encore, the band added their signature track “Youth,” turning the park into a full-fledged festival. “Ideal Type” played once more, accompanied by a sea of fans singing along.
The members smiled as the crowd’s voices overpowered the microphones, locking eyes and staying immersed in rhythm throughout the set. A widely-shared moment from their earlier Sinchon performance—where they effortlessly led a singalong after an unexpected sound issue—was recalled by fans at the Busan show.
“This is the magic of a live band,” many said, appreciating the spontaneity and chemistry.
“The moment they harmonized with the audience felt truly romantic,” one spectator shared.
“Even when the audio cut out, they stayed calm and encouraged a singalong—so professional,” added another.
Throughout the performance, CATCH THE YOUNG demonstrated the unifying power of music between people and place. Each song conveyed a distinct emotion and message, backed by solid musical synergy and refined stage presence. Their experience from college festivals, live clubs, and large events clearly translated into a polished and confident street performance.
The band recently released their single “Ideal Type,” receiving praise for its blend of retro rock riffs and synth-pop elements—a sound now widely dubbed as CATCH THE YOUNG’s unique “youth identity.” Looking ahead, they are scheduled to perform at major summer music festivals, including the 2025 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival and JUMF 2025 (Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival), marking a new leap in their growth as a band.
With more busking performances and festival stages on the horizon, CATCH THE YOUNG plans to amplify the romance of summer with their listeners across Korea.
