TV personality Hong Jin Kyung has issued a public apology after sparking controversy over an outfit that some interpreted as displaying political affiliation.
On June 3, Hong took to her social media to share a statement of apology, saying, "I can’t believe I made such a foolish mistake during such a sensitive time. I’m truly at a loss for words at myself."
The controversy began when Hong posted several photos of herself wearing a red top, drawing attention ahead of the upcoming presidential election. After the images were uploaded, some netizens criticized the choice, claiming she was expressing political alignment through her clothing.
As the issue gained traction, Hong addressed the matter directly: "I’ve often felt regretful seeing celebrities make questionable choices during election periods. And yet here I am, making such a foolish mistake myself during this sensitive time. I’m genuinely shocked and disappointed in myself."
She went on to clarify, "The photos I posted were taken two days ago at a shop in Stockholm. I thought the design was fun and uploaded the pictures, without giving any thought to the color of the top I was wearing at the time."
Hong continued, "Having spent so much time abroad, away from life in Korea, I think I lost a sense of awareness. Regardless of the reason, the fault is entirely mine. There’s no excuse, and I am entirely to blame."
She concluded her statement by saying, "I sincerely apologize once again for causing confusion and distress during such a sensitive time for everyone."
